I got a profound emotional reaction looking at your paintings. They are painfully beautiful; I say this because they made me think of a passionate and color-swirling inner life boxed in. (Maybe she’s me. LoL.)
It also reminds me of batik of Indonesia. (Haven you been told this before?)
Actually, some of the techniques I use—frisket (a resist) and layering colors—is similar to batik, so I’m surprised people don’t make that connection more. Your comment about “A passionate and color-swirling inner life boxed in” is so gratifying. I see my painting as devoted to getting more of my emotion out into the world. In real life, I’m sort of a boring schlub—you would never know I do this stuff.
I have a whole stack of new paintings I’ll scan in the next couple of weeks, so check back. Thanks! —D
*whistles* These paintings are amazing. Besides the gorgeous colors, motions, and emotions evoked on first viewing, the paintings show an amazing kinetic quality. They seem to be breathing, even. I’m sure you’ve probably heard this from others, but your work shows your inner self to be absolutely alive in wonder and in love with life! There’s so much energy and movement, joy, lightness and laughter in your paintings. All the swirling, moving circles show me how connected you are with life’s force/dance. There’s so many joined arms, tops of heads, and good vibrations going on that I feel charged! Looking at your paintings revives the soul and sets off sparks of creativity. I’m overwhelmed by a sense of your total engagement and enjoyment of life. Thank you for sharing your dynamic spirit with your readers! *whew* wow.
I’m overwhelmed. I do think you can sometimes see inside an artist’s head, but it’s a little scary to see your work that way. I like to think I’m “alive in wonder and in love with life,” but mostly I just like to play around with shapes and colors and see what happens. I’m so happy when what happens is of any interest to anyone else. Thanks! —D

Although I am not an expert on art I really do enjoy and appreciate the elements of these paintings. The colors and shapes are truly mesmerizing. Thanks for showing them Mr. Felso!
Thank you for taking the time to comment. Even I’m guilty sometimes of thinking—erroneously—that abstraction is somehow easier and therefore less virtuous than representative art. It’s good to know these paintings have some impact beyond being fun for me to make. —D

Lovely shapes and colours to stumble upon while wandering through blogocean. And haiku as well what a treat.
Thank you! I’m to be part of an art show pairing poetry and painting, and today’s post (10/29) is one of the couples I’m going to use. I don’t usually think of the painting and haiku together, but for today I will. —D
Amazing colors and shapes.
Wow… It’s the stunning works.
You call to look at what lays under the nice surface and that’s an awesome.
Thank you.
No, thank you. It’s gratifying to know someone enjoys them.
